IN PERSON

Wiebe (47, living with his partner and two young kids in Amsterdam) spent his twenties as an aspiring rockstar. The rockstar part never came to fruition, but the music videos, concert films and documentaries he made along the way did.

In 2008 MTV Networks asked him to join their creative department. Every guilder he’d pinched as a teenager to clean out the local video store had finally paid off.

TV promos and formats grew into commercials and high-end campaigns. He worked for the likes of Disney, Loblaw, SBS, RTL, Albertsons, Albert Heijn, L - founders, and the political party Volt, which hired him to make the national campaign videos for the 2026 Dutch municipal elections.

In between, he never stopped making his own work. His VR series MY ONLY WAY OUT was one of the first two projects to receive €50k in European development funding. His VR film INCITEMENT premiered at SXSW in 2019 and was named one of the 50 best XR experiences of that year by Forbes. And with support of the Netherlands film fund he recently finished the screenplay of his first feature film: THE FINE ART OF KEEPING A SECRET. About a young man grappling with the news of his terminal cancer diagnosis while he is hosting the wedding of a close friend. He wrote it while fighting cancer himself.

Currently, clean as a whistle, and buzzing with energy, he’s working on a new feature film LAZY EYES, developing a TV series BREADCRUMBS and making INCREMENTAL OPTIMISM IN UKRAINE. An online series sharing stories about ordinary, yet inspiring people he meets during the humanitarian trips he makes to Ukraine.
